7e280d32-c7f3-4386-8d14-7dc32f0434c9.jpgOn Wednesday, August 8, Mount Carmel will relocate our longstanding and expert trauma program from Mount Carmel West to Mount Carmel East. In addition to bringing trauma care to Columbus’ east side for the very first time, it’s enabling better, faster access to trauma care for the entire community, with 24/7 coverage for neurosurgery, orthopedics, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, ENT, plastics/maxillofacial, critical care, cardiology, radiology, obstetrics and more.

Our core trauma service team consists of an attending trauma surgeon, general surgery residents and trauma nurse practitioners. Our Trauma Medical Director is trauma fellowship-trained and board certified in surgical critical care. Our trauma surgeons are all board- and ATLS-certified and perform a large volume of elective and acute care surgeries. They also have additional experience in surgical critical care, advanced laparoscopic techniques, vascular surgery and even battlefield surgery.

The new Trauma Center is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including acute airway management equipment; portable ultrasonography; uncrossmatched blood; rapid infusers; and CT and angiography.

We accept all trauma transfers to Mount Carmel with just one call to 614-546-GOMC (4662) or 855-695-1436. The trauma surgeon will accept your transfer and we will do the rest. Mount Carmel is equipped for trauma patient arrival 24 hours a day by either helicopter or ambulance.

If you have any questions about trauma care at Mount Carmel or the new Mount Carmel East Trauma Center, please contact Andrea Light, Trauma Program Manager, at 614-234-6143 or alight@mchs.com.
